The innovative digital identity platform connecting consumers, banks and businesses, has been awarded a development grant from the UK Government’s innovation agency to further develop its [OneID® digital identity solution](https://oneid.uk/) to tackle under-age and excessive gambling. By enabling the gaming sector to validate the true identity of an individual with OneID®, the Innovate UK grant directs further research on how the use of bank-validated identities reduces the financial and societal impact of gambling addiction.   The research will look at a broad range of use-cases for OneID® to confirm its effectiveness in tackling social harms from gambling misuse, such as addiction and mental health problems. In addition, the research will investigate the application of OneID® in helping identify problem gamblers and directing them to relevant support services. The Government grant will also enable wider research by OneID®into enabling social and economic inclusion for the poorest members of society by creating an assured and trusted Digital Identity. We know that gambling disproportionately affects the financial and health well-being of the poorest members of society.
