OneID® = verifying users at scale

Written by The OneID Team® | 18/12/25 14:39

2025 has been a year of continued growth and real-world proof for OneID®. As expectations for identity and age verification have risen, our platform has been proven where it counts: in live environments where trust and speed are essential.

Over the last year, OneID® completed over 10 million checks, helping organisations verify people accurately without slowing down their customers.

Operating at a national infrastructure scale

A key moment came on 25 July, when stricter age verification rules for adult websites came into force in the UK. This triggered an immediate and substantial increase in demand for verification across the sector.

At its peak, OneID® processed over 140 transactions per second, maintaining consistent performance under sustained load. This wasn't a test environment - it was a real regulatory deadline, involving real users. The platform did exactly what it was built to do: verify users reliably in a privacy-preserving way at scale.

Reducing friction for returning users

In early 2025, we launched the OneID® Wallet. This lets returning users verify themselves faster, while keeping the same level of security. Once a user has been verified, the wallet allows them to reuse that identity securely.

This removed the need for repetitive checks, smoothing out the process in regulated sectors where people often need to prove who they are multiple times. It’s all about improving usability without dropping our standards on compliance.

Expanding our age verification capabilities

Throughout the year, we expanded our age verification offering in response to meet new market demands.

In the summer, we launched Mobile Number Age Verification (MNAV), in the UK, enabling age checks through mobile network operators. This provides a fast alternative to document-based approaches and supports scenarios where low-friction age assurance is required.

By the Autumn, we expanded this capability further with the introduction of US Mobile Network Operator Age Verification, supporting organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions and reflecting the growing international need for reliable age assurance.

Real-world impact on child protection

Beyond technology, our work in 2025 made a real societal difference. Through mobile network checks and parental controls, OneID® prevented over 280,000 children from accessing age-registered content.

Crucially, these attempts came from devices with parental locks active, proving that the safeguards were working. This shows just how effective age verification can be for online safety when it is reliable and hard to bypass.

Compliance without the data risk

OneID continues to operate on a strict privacy-by-design basis. Verification is carried out directly with trusted data sources, including banks and mobile network operators, and OneID® does not store personal identity data.

We only send the necessary confirmation to the service, helping organisations meet regulatory requirements while reducing the risks associated with handling and storing sensitive documents.

Looking ahead to 2026

As regulation continues to evolve, the demands placed on identity and age verification infrastructure will only increase. 2025 has demonstrated that it is possible to meet these demands at scale, without compromising on user experience, privacy, or operational reliability.

OneID® enters the next phase focused on continuing to support organisations that need identity verification to work quietly, consistently, and at the pace of real-world digital services.
