Bank Verification - User Guide

Learn how to use your bank to quickly and securely verify your identity or age online.

OneID® makes it easy for you to prove who you are online, securely and in just a few clicks. 
Your bank already knows who you are. We help you connect to your bank so that you can use that information to verify your details (name, date of birth or address) in a fast, private and secure way, without you having to upload documents or remember extra passwords. 

If you are unfamiliar with us, we’re a UK Government–certified digital identity service provider (under the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework), so you can trust your information is handled to the highest standards of privacy and security.

How It Works 

  1. Choose to verify with your bank – It usually takes less than a minute to complete the whole verification. 
  2. Select your bank from a list – We partner with UK major banks. View the full list of banks supported by OneID® here.
  3. Continue to your bank app – Before clicking to open your bank, you’ll be able to read the exact information being asked to your bank. 
  4. Log in to your bank’s app – Your bank already knows the details you’re trying to verify. Simply share it with OneID® for a simple, no-document process. 
  5. Approve the information to share – We’ll list the details verified so you can decide to share it with your trusted business or not. It’s your data, and you’re in control. 

**If Your Bank Isn’t Supported: 

If you don’t have a UK online banking account, or your bank isn’t listed, you can restart the journey to check whether there is another verification method at OneID®'s first screen. If not, please contact the support team of the website or service you’re trying to access, they can guide you through other options, such as uploading an ID document.

Your Privacy Comes First 

  • We simply act as a secure bridge between your bank and the website you’re using, letting you collect and share the information you need – nothing else. 
  • You have full control and visibility over what information is shared and whether to share it at all.

What Happens at Your Bank App 

Each bank has their own data sharing process and what they display within the account. Normally, you’re asked to select which account you wish to retrieve information from (e.g. current or savings account). Where possible, select a current account. Next, you’re asked to agree to share data with OneID®.
