How do I verify my age for a website that I’m trying to access?
To verify your age using OneID®, please follow these steps:
- Visit Website
Go to the website you are attempting to access. When prompted to verify your age, you’ll be presented with several verification options. - Select OneID
Choose OneID® as your verification method. If you're unfamiliar with OneID®, we are a digital identity provider, certified by the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology under the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework that helps users log in securely to various online services without creating a new account or sharing sensitive data unnecessarily. - Provide your phone number and/or choose Online Banking
Enter your phone number. OneID® sends a one-time password to the phone number you entered OneID® performs age verification using mobile network operator data. If your age cannot be confirmed using the data in the mobile network operator, you will be requested to verify by bank.
OneID® works by securely connecting to your online banking service to confirm your identity and age. When prompted:
-
- Select your bank from the list of supported UK banks.
- Log in using your usual online banking credentials.
- Grant permission for OneID® to access only the minimum required data (e.g., name, age/date of birth confirmation).
If your bank isn't supported or you don’t use online banking and are looking for alternative methods to mobile verification (like ID upload or a selfie), you'll need to contact that website's support team directly, we don’t provide or manage those services.
- Complete the Process
Once verified, you’ll be redirected back to the website with your age successfully confirmed. OneID® does not have access or store any of your PIIs.
