I have received an OTP notification from OneID® when I didn't request it. What does this mean?
The SMS you received was automatically triggered as part of a secure identity/age verification process. This can sometimes happen if someone accidentally enters the wrong phone number when trying to log in or verify their identity/age with a service that uses OneID®. Please rest assured — this does not mean anything malicious has occurred, and it does not indicate any compromise of your personal information or identity.
If you're unfamiliar with OneID®, we are a digital identity provider, certified by the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology under the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework that helps users log in securely to various online services. You may have been sent a message simply because your number was entered in error during one of these processes.
Importantly, also note that we do not store any phone numbers unless the user completes the process by providing a response.
If you'd like us to check whether your number exists in our system, and remove it if it does, you can request a full account deletion by providing your phone number with country code and email id to askus@oneid.uk and our customer support team will be in touch with you.
