Document Verification - User Guide

With OneID®'s document verification solution, you can verify your identity using your passport or driving licence, plus a quick selfie check. We’re a UK Government–certified digital identity service provider (under the Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework). That means your details are always handled to the highest standards of privacy and security.

How it works

1. Get started

You’ll receive an SMS or email with a link asking you to prove your identity for the organisation you’re verifying with.

• Open the link on your phone.
• If you open it on your computer, you’ll be shown a QR code to scan with your phone.

2. Scan your document

When prompted, scan your official ID using your phone’s camera.

• We accept valid passports from 200+ countries and UK driving licences.
• Make sure the whole document is visible (all four edges and corners).
• Capture the document in good light - avoid glare, blur, shadows, or reflections.
• Hold the document in your hand if it helps.
• Only capture one ID document per image.
• Keep the camera at the right distance - not too close, not too far.

3. Check your details

We’ll extract the information from your document. Just confirm it’s all correct on your screen.

4. Take a quick selfie

Next, you’ll be asked to take a short live selfie to make sure the document belongs to you.

• Keep your face fully visible, don’t cover any part of it.
• Remove sunglasses, caps, or anything hiding your face.
• Follow the simple instructions shown on your phone.

5. Biometric match

We’ll compare your selfie with the photo on your ID. If it matches, you’re verified.

🌐 Supported documents & countries

Our document verification solution works worldwide, supporting passports from hundreds of countries.

• For UK Right to Work checks, you can use a British or Irish passport, or an Irish Passport Card.
• Our DBS checks accepts UK Passports and Driving Licences.
• Identity checks accept passports from over 200 countries.
