Companies House ID Verification—What’s Changing and How OneID® Simplifies it for ACSPs.

As part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCTA), Companies House is introducing new identity verification requirements for company directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs).

From 8 April 2025, identity verification can be done voluntarily. However, it will become mandatory from Autumn 2025. Existing Directors and PSCs will have until Autumn 2026 to complete their verification.

Who can register as an ACSP?

Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs) can verify the identity of company directors and PSCs. Since 18 March 2025, accountants, solicitors, company formation agents, and other professionals supervised under the Money Laundering Regulations can register as ACSPs.

This is an opportunity to stand out with a more holistic and streamlined client support. OneID® can help you do just that.

An Automated IDVT Solution that meets Companies House ACSP Requirements

OneID® is a government-certified Identity Service Provider (IDSP) providing Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT) that simplifies and speeds up how you verify identities online. It enables you to meet the requirements set out by Companies House through a streamlined, fully digital process.

OneID® supports ACSPs in:

  • Collecting and verifying a person’s name, date of birth, and address
  • Reviewing and authenticating ID documents
  • Confirming the person is who they claim to be through document and selfie biometric matching
  • Delivering fast, auditable results with minimal effort for your clients

All without additional training, manual checks, or complex onboarding.

How to do ID Verification for Companies House ACSP

OneID® is fully compliant with AML requirements.

ACSPs must not only verify identities for ACSP use cases, but also comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations for client onboarding. OneID® offers solutions that do both.

Our identity verification methods meet the AML requirements set out by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB), Legal Sector Affinity Group (LSAG), and Joint Money Laundering Steering Group (JMLSG).

Flexible identity verification to suit your needs—and your clients

OneID® is certified under the UK Government’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF), offering flexible, scalable digital verification routes. And the best part—you don’t need any specialist training or manual work. Choose the one that works best for your client and your workflow:

2) Bank-based Identity Verification

A second-generation digital identity verification solution that uses bank-verified identity data in a completely secure, document-free and frictionless way. Approximately 50 million individuals in the UK with an online banking account can use this method, making it the most accessible solution for your clients.

Whether you're using document-based checks or bank-verified identity, both routes are certified by the UK Government and designed to help you stay compliant for ACSP and AML use cases.
